Dreaming.

Coachella dreaming. I'm not sure about you guys, but my Instagram has been blown up with Coachella posts. Not only is it making me depressed that I am not there but I'm also getting sever outfit envy. Maybe one day I will attend the festivities but for now i'll settle with playing in the flowers with my puppy.

All Black.

Today I'm wearing all black, very typical. I feel that wearing all black is very powerful but still looks classy and sophisticated. I had to edge up this simple dress with these amazing shoes!! (I'm seriously obsessed) Then I topped my look off with this beautiful red-orange lip color, because everything instantly looks better with lipstick.

Shoes

Shoes by aly-schmitt

Some of my summer must have shoes!

1. Nike Roshe Run- Its no surprise that activewear is going to continue to be a huge trend into the spring and summer. Trainers are one of the easiest and most comfortable ways to pull off this trend. Keep your heels in your closet and go for something more comfortable and practical!

2. Fringe Sandal- Festivals are just around the corner and no look would be complete with a little fringe on your feet. The fringe gives an effortless feel and is perfect for warmer weather.

3. Slip-on Sneakers- These are the sophisticated side of the modern sneaker. While being casual they still manage to have a more classy look to them and are not the "typical" sneaker. These shoes are easily worn and perfect for someone who is on the go. (Here or Here)

4. Chunky Sandals- These might not be everyones cup of tea but I am obsessed. The chic chunky flat form, in my opinion, gives the illusion of slimmer legs. This is a fun take on a classic sandal and has that modern, minimalistic feel. I can't wait to get my hands on these guys!

5. Birkenstocks- Not only are they practical but they are completely adorable. There are so many new colors and styles to choose from like metallic, pony hair, leopard etc. (I want them all) You can find one perfect for your style and pair them with shorts or a dress for that easy, effortless look.

6. Jelly Sandals- They are back! Along with many other 90's favorites the jelly shoes are here and ready for summer. These are perfect with a pair of cut off shorts or to wear to the pool with a coverup. They are perfect to add that element of fun to any outfit.

Trousers.

Sorry for the lack of outfit posts lately, I have been extra busy with school and work! I can't wait for this semester to be over so I can focus on more important things (like outfit posts ;) ). I decided to have a more professional look today so I paired these classic printed trousers with a tight fitted crop top. I thought the contrast between the fitted crop top and the trousers would be a complementary look and be perfect for a situation where you should dress to impress. I used a neutral belt to tie it all together and define my waist. Trousers are one of my favorite staple items they immediately make any look feel more put together. I linked a few similar trousers down below!

Oscars 2014.

My Favs:

Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein

Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive

Kate Hudson in Versace

Matthew McConaughey
Camila Alves in Gabriela Cadena

Not so much:

Liza Minnelli

Kerry Washington in Jason Wu

Pharrell Williams

Can we take a moment to acknowledge how amazing Naomi Watts looks in this gown? While watching the Oscars I noticed there was a lot of metallic neutrals and icy pastels (trends I'm loving for spring/summer). There was so much glamor and talent on the red carpet but, of course there were also a few flops. Here were my favorite looks and not so favorite looks from the Oscars 2014!

Homerun.

 From Day:

To Night:

2.27.2014

Today I styled this cute baseball inspired dress that I found when I went to Vegas last week. I went to Vegas for the MAGIC fashion convention and let me just say that it was AMAZING! There was such great energy there and I found a lot of inspiration. I realized when I got home that we didn't take any pictures!!! (How disappointing) One of my favorite parts of the trip was going to a trend seminar which showed us all the predicted trends for spring and summer! A trend that I love is activewear, this was the main inspiration for these outfits.

I styled this dress two ways from day, to night. The first look I went for a casual, relaxed vibe. I paired the dress with these orange flatforms I got like two years, they are super old. I have been dying for the American Apparel leather hat for quite some time but couldn't justify spending over $60 on such a trend piece. I was overjoyed when I saw almost the exact same thing at Forever 21 for only $10!

Look two I wanted to contradict the sportiness of the dress with these girly Jeffrey Campbell heels. I don't think that anyone will believe me I got them for $30, they were originally priced at $180, gotta love those Urban Outfitters sales. I also picked up this clutch while on my trip for only $20 it is still available online (link down below). I think the entire look gives a effortless but still polished look.
